Firestead is free software without custody: the keys are held by the user alone, nobody else can make payments or restore a lost recovery phrase. The software is provided without warranty. The operators of external sites are solely responsible for their content.

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and loads nothing from third-party servers; fonts are hosted here.

It is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit, Vercel processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

The app

Firestead has no account and sends no data to the publisher. The app only connects to the Bitcoin server the user sets (mempool.space by default); that server sees the wallet's addresses and, without Tor, the IP address. If a currency is set, the app asks the same server for the price (with an Electrum server: mempool.space).

On the Mac, the app checks for updates at start (can be turned off) by fetching a file from this website. This only produces the server logs described above; no identifier is sent. With Tor turned on, this check also goes over Tor.

Die Website verwendet keine Cookies, keine Analyse- oder Tracking-Dienste und lädt nichts von fremden Servern; Schriften liegen auf dem eigenen Server.

Gehostet wird sie bei Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Beim Aufruf verarbeitet Vercel technisch notwendige Daten (IP-Adresse, Zeitpunkt, aufgerufene Datei, Browser-Kennung) in Server-Protokollen, um die Seite auszuliefern und vor Angriffen zu schützen. Rechtsgrundlage ist das berechtigte Interesse am sicheren Betrieb (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO). Die Übermittlung in die USA stützt sich auf das EU-US Data Privacy Framework bzw. die Standardvertragsklauseln der EU-Kommission.

Die App

Firestead hat kein Konto und schickt dem Herausgeber keine Daten. Die App verbindet sich nur mit dem Bitcoin-Server, den der Nutzer einstellt (voreingestellt mempool.space); dieser sieht die Adressen der Wallet und, ohne Tor, die IP-Adresse. Ist eine Währung eingestellt, fragt die App den Kurs beim selben Server ab (bei einem Electrum-Server bei mempool.space).

Auf dem Mac sucht die App beim Start nach Updates (abschaltbar) und ruft dazu eine Datei von dieser Website ab. Dabei fallen nur die oben genannten Server-Protokolle an; eine Kennung wird nicht mitgeschickt. Mit eingeschaltetem Tor läuft auch diese Abfrage über Tor.
